Summer 2021 is flying by, and with the pandemic keeping us on our toes, it can be difficult to get out of a mental rut. When it feels like time is running out, reset your clocks with something for you! Boston is filled with free activities across the neighborhoods, which we've discussed here with 10 free things to do in Boston and here with things to do in Boston in the summer, but what if you've tried everything? Today, Spot Easy is highlighting fitness classes and centers that offer free classes, free first-time visitor classes, and discounted first-time visitors classes.
As for free workout classes, Boston is chock-full of them! Anywhere from the Seaport to Dorchester, free fitness classes are offered throughout the summer in the city. Beyond class, Boston has some of the best parks to run, bike or practice your craft on your own! However, if you're ready to try something new, listen to an instructor, meet new people and possibly explore new locations, these free workout classes below are your best option! Free Workout Classes
At The Anchor, networking meetups, the beer garden, live music, movies and wellness are all part of their public-events calendar. The summer wellness series continues everyday this August at The Anchor, 1 Shipyard Park in Charlestown, Boston. All wellness classes are free, and classes range from light yoga flows, to Zumba and Bootcamp. Switch up the view in front of your workout and head to 1 Shipyard Park! Offering in-person and remote classes, Soulfire Movement in Dorchester offers free drop-in classes when you mention the Boston Calendar. For. regular drop-in classes, the cost is usually $20. Check their site for their full schedule, and try a unique class using all seven chakras to enhance effects! Try something new and head to a Soulfire Movement class.

Offering free classes with advanced booking to keep social distancing guidelines in place, Boston Harbor Now offers free weekly classes here. Ranging from sunset yoga along the harbor, or trillfit cardio dance fitness, Boston Harbor Now wants to keep Boston active, while on a budget!
Through October 2, with the exception of Labor Day (9/6), the city of Boston offers free Park Fitness classes throughout the summer. Offering over 15 classes, including Tai Chi, virtual chair yoga, line dancing, HIIT training, family fun Zumba and plenty more, Park Fitness makes working out in Boston fun and inclusive. Grab a friend, or stay home with your laptop and some tunes, and try out the free fitness series!
From May to October, Seaport Sweat has consistently led fitness classes for free in the Seaport area. Offering two classes per weeknight, plus Saturday morning specialties, Seaport Sweat allows guests to take classes in person, outside at Seaport Common, or remotely from the comfort of whenever you have service! Offering intense classes and movie nights, CX Fit has partnered with Club High-Rise to offer free classes every Wednesday night and Saturday morning at Cambridge Crossing. Classes can be scheduled here, and it sounds like this series will be every summer, by the looks of this being their third time running this!
Practice with a registered trauma yoga instructor on Saturday mornings! At 10am every first and third Saturday of the month, Marlene Boyette teaches free yoga classes which include a sound bath. In Central Square Cambridge, classes are meant to ground you, even early on Saturday mornings! Don't start your darty this Saturday until you've had your yoga fix!

First Class Free or Discounted
If you're new to the city, new to working out, or just want to try something new, check out this list of first-class-free or discounted fitness centers! These gyms and classes give newbie's the opportunity to take a class for free, or a discounted rate, before becoming a member. Have you ever wanted to try boxing but haven't found the place? TITLE Boxing in North Station or Newbury Street (plus over 150 other clubs across the country) offer your first class for free! Simply sign up on their site, and you will be redirected to schedule your first class. Boxing can be for everyone, so why not give it a try for free?
Offering a full, indoor gym, group workout classes, TRX classes and pilates classes, Benefitness in Brookline offers non-members to try out a group class or time in their gym before purchasing a membership. Simply give the studio a call the week you'd like to try out, and tell them the day, time and/or class you'd like to attend, and you're in! Offering an open gym and group classes in Longwood and Cambridge, as well as personal training in Brookline, Bodyscapes has been around the Boston neighborhoods since 2004. For your first class, somewhere I promise you haven't experienced anything like before, you can join a barre and bounce, barre and bands, or outdoor bounce class for $12! Barre Groove combines high-energy dancing, trampolines, workout bands, and muscle sculpting to introduce athletes to a fun, community-based way of working out. $12 first-time-groover passes can be used at their studio location, or at 401 Park on the grass in the Fenway, next door to Timeout Boston. For $30, or discounted when you purchase multiple at once, these dance-fitness classes can be taken at BIJOU dance club! While it isn't free, I promise this will be the best $12 you've ever spent!

Offering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, mixed martial arts and Muay Thai, Combat Sports in Boston has been offering self-defense-like fitness classes since 2013. Click on Combat Sports above to get your first three classes for $19.95! This will give athletes the opportunity to really build a foundation in self-defense before committing to a full membership, and might even teach you a few things that stick!
